HARRISBURG – The York County Republican delegation to the House of Representatives reminds residents the deadline to apply for the 2015 Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program is Dec. 31.

Delegation members, Reps. Kate Klunk (R-Hanover), Stan Saylor (R-Red Lion), Keith Gillespie (R-Hellam), Seth Grove (R-Dover) and Kristin Phillips-Hill (R-York Township) and Rep.-elect Dawn Keefer (R-Dillsburg), issued the following the statement about the program:

“Eligible participants can receive a rebate, which is based on income, of up to $650 for rent or property taxes paid in 2015. Supplemental rebates can boost rebates for qualifying homeowners to $975.

“The program is open to residents who are 65 years or old, widows and widowers 50 years or older, and those 18 years or older with disabilities. The income limits are $35,000 annually for homeowners and $15,000 a year for renters. Half of Social Security income is excluded.

“Applications and no-cost assistance are available from our district offices. Applicants should be prepared to provide all necessary income, property tax or rental information required to process claims. Claimants who already applied for their rebates may check the status of claims online at revenue.pa.gov or by calling, toll-free, 1-888-PATAXES.”

The program is funded by the Pennsylvania Lottery and slots gaming. Since its inception in 1971, older and disabled adults have received more than $6.1 billion in property tax and rent relief.
