York County Legislative Delegation Announces “Wall that Heals” Escort Route
HARRISBURG – Members of the York County House legislative delegation and Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1032, working cooperatively to bring the community together to honor the sacrifice of Vietnam War veterans this week are pleased to announce the escort route for the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall when it arrives in York.

The escort will begin promptly at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 4 at the Bridges Golf Club (6729 York Road, Abbottstown). The escort convoy will take US Route 30 East to the PA Route 462/US Route 30 East split. From there they will take PA Route 462 until turning onto N. Highland Avenue. They will enter the York Fairgrounds from the Highland Avenue gate.

State Reps. Seth Grove (R-Dover), Kate Klunk (R-Hanover), Mike Regan (R-Dillsburg), Kristin Phillips-Hill (R-York Township), Stan Saylor (R-Red Lion), Kevin Schreiber (D-York) and Keith Gillespie (R-Hellam) issued the following statement regarding the event:

“We are thankful for the strong level of community support for this event, honoring the service and sacrifice of local Vietnam War veterans, including the 70 York County residents who made the ultimate sacrifice for their community and country. The escort will serve as the unofficial start of this week’s events. We invite members of the community to attend and volunteer for all of the events this week. Upon the wall’s arrival at the York Fairgrounds, volunteer training will be held and the Wall will be assembled. The event which is scheduled for May 5-8, will include a traveling replica of the Vietnam Memorial Wall. The official dedication ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 5, and we encourage the community to come together, reflect and honor those that bravely served our country.”
