York House GOP Delegation Announces 2013-14 School Funding for York County

HARRISBURG – The Members of the York County House Republican Delegation today reported the proposed K-12 basic education funding levels for school districts throughout the state for the 2013-14 fiscal year.

In House Bill 1437, the state budget legislation currently pending before the General Assembly, state funding has been increased for every school district from the 2012-13 fiscal year funding levels.

The delegation, which includes House Majority Whip Stan Saylor (R-Windsor Township), Reps. Ron Miller (R-Jacobus), Keith Gillespie (R-Hellam), Seth Grove (R-Dover), Will Tallman (R-Hanover), and Mike Regan (R-Dillsburg), issued the following statement:

“Strengthening our economy and affording all the members of our future generations a path to success are goals we all share.  There is no better place to invest in those goals than basic education.  Properly funded basic education ensures our children have the solid foundation on which to build their futures and become the best business leaders and workers in the nation.”

For York County, the funding levels for 2013-14 are:

  • Central York School District - $13,941,444, an increase of 5.3 percent.
  • Dallastown Area School District - $17,152,409, an increase of 4.6 percent.
  • Dover Area School District - $16,274,610, an increase of 3.4 percent.
  • Eastern York School District - $11,781,642, an increase of 3 percent.
  • Hanover Public School District - $4,763,401, an increase of 4.1 percent.
  • Northeastern York School District - $16,515,070, an increase of 4.1 percent.
  • Northern York County School District - $11,871,219, an increase of 3.4 percent.
  • Red Lion Area School District - $23,598,945, an increase of 4.1 percent.
  • South Eastern School District - $14,062,435, an increase of 3.2 percent.
  • South Western School District - $15,595,594, an increase of 3.4 percent.
  • Southern York County School District - $12,260,548, an increase of 3.2 percent.
  • Spring Grove Area School District - $16,622,127, an increase of 2.9 percent.
  • West Shore School District - $23,269,667, an increase of 3.6 percent.
  • West York Area School District - $10,027,992, an increase of 4.7 percent.
  • York City School District - $62,687,886, an increase of 1.8 percent.
  • York Suburban School District - $6,038,873, an increase of 6.1 percent.

These totals include Basic Education Funding, Accountability Block Grants, student transportation and charter school student transportation, school employees’ Social Security, and the state’s portion of pension obligations for school employees.
