Grove Issues Statement on Wolf’s Decision to Impose Cap and Trade
October 3, 2019
HARRISBURG – Rep. Seth Grove (R-Dover) issued the following statement:
“Today, Gov. Tom Wolf made a unilateral decision to join the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative and impose a cap-and-trade policy on Pennsylvania ratepayers. This move will have three results:
(1) Put union coal employees, at mines and power plants, out of work and economically devasting those areas of the Commonwealth.
(2) Increase demand for natural gas guaranteeing more profits for natural gas drillers and guaranteeing more drilling across Pennsylvania.
(3) Increase utility costs for every Pennsylvanian in every corner of the Commonwealth, which disproportionately impact low-income Pennsylvanians.
“I don’t understand why Gov. Wolf would want to pursue a policy that will destroy an entire Pennsylvania industry, to ensure natural gas drillers will increase profits, while increasing costs on his fellow Pennsylvania residents.”
